The Leander City Council approved a new lower tax rate at
Monday night’s council meeting. The new
rate of $0.599 per $100 of property value is down $0.03392 from last year’s
rate. Due to rising home values
taxpayers will still see a slight increase in their tax bill next year. The average home value in Leander has
increased about 10% over the last year.
(Sources range from 9.5% to almost 12%.)
The effective tax rate is a 1.2% increase over last year.
The Council is also expected to pass its budget for fiscal
2016-2017 this month. The proposed
budget is posted on the city’s website at https://www.leandertx.gov/finance/page/proposed-fy-2016-17-annual-budget. The city’s fiscal year begins October 1.
